Truck driver forced to show birth certificate claims racial-profiling

For those of you still daydreaming about what could possibly be the problem with having to prove you "belong here"....

PHOENIX – A Valley man says he was pulled over Wednesday morning and questioned when he arrived at a weigh station for his commercial vehicle along Val Vista and the 202 freeway.

Abdon, who did not want to use his last name, says he provided several key pieces of information but what he provided apparently was not what was needed.

He tells 3TV, “I don't think it's correct, if I have to take my birth certificate with me all the time.”

3TV caught up with Abdon after he was released from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in central Phoenix. He and his wife, Jackie, are still upset about what happened to him.

Jackie tells 3TV, “It's still something awful to be targeted. I can't even imagine what he felt, people watching like he was some type of criminal.”

Abdon was told he did not have enough paperwork on him when he pulled into a weigh station to have his commercial truck checked. He provided his commercial driver’s license and a social security number but ended up handcuffed.

An agent called his wife and she had to leave work to drive home and grab other documents like his birth certificate.

I claim that your president is a marxist idealist, therefore our truck driver is correct in that he has been racially profiled, big whoopty do ! I get nasty looks and discourteous treatment whenever I'm caught traveling in and out of communities where whites are a minority, 'never hear me complain about it :dunno:

We're a nation of some 300+ million and we're all aghast over a single "claim" of racial profiling ? Go back to bed for the day ! :D

Uh...they make some pretty tangible claims. It's is provable if he was detained. It's provable if his wife had to leave work. It's provable if he was at INS as ICE confirms the incident.

But continue daydreaming...

I don't see the issue here... people need to stop being so goddamn touchy, these agents are doing their job.

A US citizen just trying to do his best to go about his way and earn a living
is detained, taken in..his wife has to take off work to go prove he "belong's here" and you don't have an "issue" with that?

Don't know about your standards but I know I would be "goddamn touchy" about that shit too.

I don't blame the cops...they are doing what the law allows...the problem is with a law that allows that.

There are 400,000 illegal immigrants in Arizona. The agents had a pretty good shot at nailing one here, but he turned out to be a citizen. Tough break for him, but I don't feel any sympathy. There are bound to be mistakes along the way. This is the law now, get used to it.

Is this post even worthy of a response refuting on point the idiocy of it?

Where is the idiocy, I don't see it? :dunno: Did I say anything that wasn't true?

Papers, please.

That's the point A/R if you think about what you just wrote here.:2 cents:

That's really the only way you ever refute opposing opinions: call them idiotic. I don't have a problem with racial profiling and inconveniencing others if it keeps (or removes) illegal aliens out of this country. Ideally, we build a big fucking wall, but that would be too expensive. I bet that if we shot illegal aliens on the spot, there would be fewer problems with immigration...

Slightly different subject but relates to "inconveniencing others". Would you favor national ID cards and firearms registration if it helps prevent crimes?

Sure, I don't carry a gun nor am I gun toting member of NRA (like some other Conservatives). So yeah, that doesn't affect me. Go crazy with your ID cards.

OK....so you're just one of those people who simply doesn't value any principle and ends justify means. No problem that you admit it....just make sure you remain consistent in that belief and know that simply because you feel this way...our constitution guarantees something different.

I value whatever benefits me as a citizen of this country. I'm not concerned about the rights of people who aren't citizens. And I believe that everyone is entitled to a firearm, but it should be registered.

Also, the Constitution counted Blacks as 3/5 of a person. I don't see you defending that principle. Guess you pick your battles, huh?

I don't feel bad that he was pressured into showing a birth certificate when it is quite evident most illegals are of Hispanic background.

*waits patiently for Hot Mega to notice me and belittle my post*

It's fun, isn't it? I love posting as an ultra Conservative in his threads. It always makes for some interesting banter...

What's there to defend?? The 13th and 14th amendments did away with it. Again, IF you actually brushed up against the constitution occasionally or knew the history of some of it's tenets you wouldn't make goofy, ignorant statements like that.

Obviously apportionment depended on population numbers. Ironically the racist south argued for blacks to be fully counted for census purposes to help them gain more legislative numbers. The north didn't since they had no huge slave populations...It was compromise language simply for apportionment purposes and no longer relevant nor applicable. So what's there to defend?

Next?

You claimed I pick my battles...that's not a battle. It was settled by the means our constitution allows for. What is there to battle with other than schooling you on the facts??
